When a basecamp demands serious food preparation, the Avalanche Cleaver rises to the occasion. Made by hand from 1075 high-carbon steel, the blade is differentially heat-treated — the spine left soft and flexible for impact resistance while the cutting edge is hardened to Rc 58 for sustained sharpness. The broad, flat blade geometry allows efficient chopping through bone, root vegetables, and small logs alike. The ambidextrous choil allows a forward pinch grip for precise work, while the full-width handle accommodates large hands even in thick gloves. Micarta scales are riveted with stainless pins and shaped with a pronounced belly swell for a secure grip. A thick leather lanyard loop adds security during heavy chopping. The included ballistic nylon roll pouch protects the edge during transport.
